Michael Ahie

Michael Ahie is a business owner and company director based in Wellington. 

Michael is the CEO and a founding partner of Shirlaws New Zealand Limited, part of the international business coaching and consulting group, Shirlaws Coaching Limited, headquartered in London. 

Michael has broad international business and governance experience with multinational companies including roles in sales, marketing, corporate and financial planning, strategy and business unit management.  He held senior roles with Toyota New Zealand Ltd, the New Zealand Dairy Board and Wrightson Ltd.  He uses this experience and his understanding of the macro issues that businesses face in his client and governance work.  Michael brings a passion for his country and is dedicated to the commercial and cultural success of organisations in New Zealand to take to a world stage.                          

He is Chairman of Plant and Food Research Ltd (a New Zealand Crown Research Institute), and a director of a number of companies including FMG (an insurance and financial services company), The Bio Commerce Centre Ltd (a business incubation company), Manawatu Investment Group Ltd (an angel investment fund) and Clearwater Ltd (a privately-owned consulting company).   

Michael completed the Executive Development Programme at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and received his First Class Honours Degree from Massey University. 

Of Taranaki, Ngā Ruahine and Ngāti Ruanui descent, Michael lives in Wellington, New Zealand with his wife Janine and their two sons.
